High school is a long stressful four years. Believe it or not, but some students are unsure what they want to do after high school. Some students base their classes off what they want to do with their life after high school. Others pick classes due to graduating requirements. I caught up with Betzy Garcia, a senior at Batavia High School. I had the privilege to talk to Betsy and she shared with me her favorite high school memories, Friday night Football games, traveling back in time, and post-high school career.

Q: How is high school going so far?

A: Stressful.

Q: What’s stressful?

A: Trying to balance out school work, work, and maintaining a social life.

Q: That sounds pretty stressful honestly.

A: It really is.

Q: You’ve been a student here for four years. What has been your favorite class in the past four school years?

A: Let me think, I would say child care lab, which is what I have right now.

Q: Why?

A: I like to play with the little kids, even though I only see them two days a week. It makes me feel good about myself that they look up to me.

Q:  Best high school memory.

A: Let me think. That’s a really hard one. Probably freshman year homecoming.

Q: Can you explain why?

A: Because I was surrounded by all my friends. We all had a good time. We got dressed up and went to dinner. The experience was what was fun about it.

Q: What do you think is the coolest thing that’s happened at the school?

A: Well it was the football championship two years ago. That was pretty cool that it happened when I was in school.

Q: If you could go back to any grade, what grade would you choose?

A: sophomore year

Q: Why?

A: My grades were actually good, and I wasn’t working as much. The football games were really fun, and I went on two vacations that year. it was just easier. I also got my license.

Q: What do you do outside of school? (hobbies/interests)

A: I like to go to car meets. That’s pretty much what my life consists of, that and work, but that’s not a hobby or interest.

Q: does that hobby have any influence on what you want to do after high school?

A: yes and no, because i would love to be able to study auto body and fix cars, but it’s not the career I want to pursue.

Q: What do you want to do after high school?

A: Community college for two years at waubonsee community college and then a university. I would like to finish off at NIU for my teaching degree.
