Five ways to boost your self esteem

By Sammy Pinner

If you keep dwelling on your insecurities and need ways to boost your self-esteem, here are some suggestions!

  1. Eat healthy

Eating healthy is a great way to make yourself feel better, and a great way to make your body feel good. Eating healthy may not always taste the best, or be fun, but I almost guarantee that it will boost your self-esteem and make you feel more energized and awake. Eating healthy will give you all your nutrients and vitamins and give your body what it needs for you to feel healthy and good about yourself.

  1. Tell yourself you’re beautiful every day

If you wake up every morning and go to the bathroom or anywhere where there is a mirror, and always look in the mirror and tell yourself you’re beautiful, you will feel good. If you tell yourself you look good everyday while looking at yourself, then you will soon start to believe it. Whether or not you believe it at first, the more you do it, the more you will start to. Telling yourself you’re pretty every time you look in a mirror throughout the day would be even better! You could also look at yourself and admire certain things about yourself that you will grow to love such as your eyes, your nose, or hair. The more often you say these things to yourself, the better you will feel about yourself.

  1. Surround yourself with positive people

Surrounding yourself with positive people, will not only boost your self-esteem, but will also make you more of a positive person, as well. If you hang out with people that make you feel better about yourself, they should have a positive impact on you because they won’t focus on themselves or bring up negative things about you.  People who are positive could be able to help you when you’re sad and always be able to tell you to how to stay happy and what you can do to be able to keep a positive state of mind. Hanging out with people who are always negative and sad, is bad to keep around and will eventually rub off on you.

  1. Put in effort to make yourself look good

Every morning when you get ready for school, do something that will make you feel better. There are hundreds of things you could do to make yourself look good such as doing your makeup, whether it’s covering a little blemish or covering your whole face, you could put on some mascara, or pick out a cute outfit, or wear what makes you feel good about yourself, or wearing your hair the way you think it looks best. Makeup isn’t mandatory to boost your self esteem. If you don’t want to wear makeup, you can focus on your hair and outfit. You could always pick your outfit out the night before or wake up a little earlier to put in effort to make yourself look the way you like and make yourself feel good. Putting in effort will make you feel more confident throughout the day and make you feel better about yourself.

  1. Do things you wouldn’t normally do

Doing things you don’t normally do will give you the chance to go out and have fun, so you’re not sitting at home dwelling on yourself and giving yourself the chance to be negative. Trying out new things, whether it’s going out with friends to see a movie, going to a friends house, or anything you usually don’t have the nerve to go and do, will make you feel good and take your focus off yourself and your insecurities.
