“You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.” This famous quote is known around the world during Christmas time and when it is said, everyone knows the story behind it. With not many new Christmas movies coming out this year in theaters, The Grinch is a fun-filled, great movie for all ages.
The Grinch is about a grumpy green creature who is on a mission to steal Christmas from the town of Whosville. Throughout this process, the Grinch learns valuable lessons from a little girl named Cindy Lou. Although there are a few installments of this series, this particular version is one of my favorites. One thing I really liked about this movie is how it follows the same storyline as all of the others. There is no crazy twists and changes to the storyline, which makes for an enjoyable experience. Especially for the ones who have seen the older version.
This installment is more kid-friendly than How The Grinch Stole Christmas with Jim Carrey from 2000. The version with Jim Carrey is over the top with the real-life aspects of the Grinch with the way he talks and acts. While that version is meant for more mature audiences, in the 2018 version the viewer sees the Grinch as a cartoon and throughout the movie he doesn’t yell and does not come off as intimidating and scary.
The 2018 version also includes a good amount of comedy that is easily understandable for all audiences and will surely make many people laugh out loud. Besides the comedy and friendly approach to the movie, it also does a great job developing not only the main characters of the movie but also characters that do not play a crucial role. Even though these characters are not crucial, they surely would be missed if taken out of the movie. At 17 years old and a senior in high school, going to see this movie was a great experience, and I would highly recommend this movie not only to younger kids but everyone no matter the age. This movie would definitely be a great Christmas present and would be a great pick for a family movie night during the Christmas season.
