Lauren Jolly is a sophomore student at Batavia High School. She is on the JV dance team and is involved in Key Club. Key Club is a school organization where students have different community service opportunities to sign up for. Lauren has gotten around 14 volunteering hours so far this year, which is a lot, and is really committed to Key Club.

Q: What extracurriculars are you in?

A: I’m in Key Club and on the Dance Team.

Q: Why did you sign up for Key Club?

A: I signed up because it looks good on college applications and I like helping the community.

Q: When did you start?

A: I started at the beginning of freshman year.

Q: How many volunteering hours do you have?

A: I have 14 and a half hours so far this year.

Q: What different things have you volunteered for?

A: I volunteered for the food pantry, bingo at a nursing home, different runs, child day care, freshman orientation, Mr. BHS bake sales, and different things in the school.

Q: Which one was your favorite? Why?

A: Freshman orientation because giving tours was fun.

Q: Which one was your least favorite and why?

A: The bake sale was my least favorite because it was really unorganized and I didn’t know where to go.

Q: Do you enjoy being in Key Club?

A: Yeah I like it because I like helping the community

Q: How can someone get started in Key Club?

A: You have to join at the beginning of the year by going to the meetings and paying the fee.

Q: What are the requirements?

A: You have to pay the fee and get at least 20 hours of community service by the end of the school year.

Q: Do you plan to keep doing community service after high school?

A: Yeah I’ll try to do different things in college.
