OPINION: Trump for President

Editor’s note: This is a two-part series completed by Journalism I students. The opposing side was published one week ago.

Albert Einstein once said, “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is insanity.”

The election on Nov. 8, 2016 is between two candidates, one far more deserving than the other: Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Einstein’s quote above is the reason Trump should be president.

The country’s current president continues to do the same things and nothing seems to be getting better – not in improving the racial divide, not in helping the economy recover, and not in lessening terrorism worldwide.

Although The New York Times published the first page of Trump’s 1995 tax return which indicated he may have avoided paying taxes for up to two decades, he has the experience and ideas to reform the tax code. Besides simplifying the tax code and streamlining deductions, one of his most interesting ideas involves the childcare tax system.

“All but the wealthiest Americans will be able to take an above-the-line deduction for children under age 13 that will be capped at state average for age of child, and for eldercare for a dependent,” according to Trump’s tax plan. “The exclusion will not be available to taxpayers with total income over $500,000 Married-Joint /$250,000 Single.”

According to the Washington Post, almost 75 percent of American still believe that America is recovering from the Great Recession. Trump’s economic vision could finally pull us out of it.

“Donald Trump is outlining a new economic vision based on a simple premise: all economic policy must be geared towards making it easier to hire, invest, build, grow and produce in America – creating a level playing field for our workers and businesses in global competition, and creating jobs here, not overseas,” Trump said in the outline of his economic vision.

Trump can also make America safe again. John Mcnabb, a supporter of Trump and former Vietnam war vet talked with Trump and he said he is confident that Trump is the best candidate for president.

“For too long, Washington has ignored our nation’s biggest threat – terrorism,” McNabb said. “With almost daily attacks, Americans have come to fear even the most routine tasks such as taking a flight, shopping at the mall, going to work and sending our children to school. Under Donald Trump’s presidency, Americans will be able to eliminate these fears and focus on all the benefits of being citizens of our great country.”

Donald Trump will not allow the country to continue doing the same thing over and over again.

If Trump is elected, expect the change that the country needs.
