Survey: Batavia students favor sports over school

By Morgan Haug

Many teenagers at Batavia High School are very involved in athletics. Football has won two state championships in the last 5 years, girls’ cross country was able to place third in the state this year, girls track won their conference last season, and many more incredible accomplishments in athletics.  After asking a number of boys and girls of all ages “what is more important to you, school or sports?” the outcome varied. I asked 55 different people. “School” was outvoted by just five people. School had 25 votes and sports topped it with 30 votes. Although girls showed that school was more important to them. Overall, according to BHS students, sports come first.
