REVIEW: Check out ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’

By Lauren Aiken

10 years ago Mamma Mia! was a 2008 favorite that made audiences’ hearts drop. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again was even more jaw-dropping while it brought the audience through the past, present, and future. This movie definitely kept me on the edge of my seat and wanting to know more.

The movie starts in 1979 when Donna, played by Meryl Streep, graduates from college with her two best friends, Rosie and Tanya, played by Julie Walters and Christine Baranski respectively. While they are adventuring the world, the movie switches from past to present where Donna’s daughter Sophie, played by Amanda Seyfried, is planning an event at her mother’s hotel, Hotel Belladonna. While the storyline keeps changing from past to future or vise-versa, several characters are introduced. The new characters and flashbacks make the film more interesting and enjoyable. Sophie, Donna’s daughter, is trying to figure out who her dad is: Harry, Bill, or Sam.

Throughout the film the actors and actresses from the first Mamma Mia! came back with even better skills and emotions. Such as Meryl Streep(Donna Sheridan), Amanda Seyfried(Sophie), Pierce Brosnan(Sam), Christine Baranski(Tanya), Colin Firth(Harry), Julie Walters(Rosie), Dominic Cooper(Sky), and  Stellan Skarsgård(Bill). The makers of this movie decided to add in new actors and actresses too, many of whom play a young character.

Ultimately, this film is enjoyed by many audiences throughout the past, present, and future aspects. This also improved the lives of actors and actresses as well as musical performances. The storyline and the characters made a strong connection with the audience. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again encourages people of all ages to follow their dreams and to always find the fun in what you are doing.
