Billie Eilish is an 18-year-old artist that is luckily able to work with her brother Finneas O’Connell. They both build off each other for ideas and with those ideas, they made the album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Billie began her career in Los Angeles California with Finneas and within the years of making music in their bedroom the next thing you know the whole world now knows her name.

The album When When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? is her first debut album in her career released in 2019. Before the debut album, she had an EP called ¨Don’t Smile At Me¨ released in 2017. Both albums are electric pop but her EP album has more slow tunes and is slower-paced while her debut album has a variety of tempos and tunes. She wrote her debut album based on her life-experiences from love, depression, anxiety, friendships, and her sleep while her EP is a message about how she doesn’t like to play by the rules and directions of how things are supposed to be and what is expected from her.

After her album When We All Asleep, Where Do We Go? was released, she got a whole new recognition like never before. Within the week she sold over 170,000 copies and was streamed 65 million times in the US. The album was No. 1 for a month straight and Eilish won five Grammys including “Song of the Year” for ¨Bad Guy¨, “Best New Artist of the Year,” and “Album of the Year.” She won five out of the six nominations. She is going strong and is having a second world tour with this album. This album is definitely worth listening to when you have a chance, not because of the awards she won for this album but because she is capable of you getting in your feelings throughout the album. You get all these different types of feelings with the lyrics she is saying that anyone can relate to in some type of way.

Nothing specific was happening in the world that influenced the production of this album but a big influence of the production was the message Eilish was wanting to express in the album and through her YouTube Videos. She wanted to show her audience and her fans an idea of what her day-to-day life experiences are and her feelings. She expressed that by her body movements and colors in her youtube videos along with the tones and lyrics of her songs.

Eilish has a creative imagination and is one of the most open-minded people and curious about the unknown. One of the biggest thoughts she has is the idea of sleep. It is in the title of the album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?  She questions that idea of where does our spirit go, where are we, why do we lay in our beds pretending to sleep, and much more. Throughout the album and the production she hopes that listeners understand her life-experiences and a glimpse of her mindset.
